Great clients makes for a successful development

Working with Paul a veteran journalist from when newspapers were made of paper and people smoked cigarettes in their offices and Stewart a lecturer of history at Oxford university was an absolute joy. From the first time we had a meeting to the last time we went out for a Christmas lunch after the job was done, Paul and Stewart where very attentive, knew exactly what they where looking for and where good at conveying over their requirements. Since they were based not too far from us, they enjoyed popping over once a week for a short catchup meeting to go over the development done that week a step at a time. They needed to understand what was and was not possible and felt comfortable with us advising them of the best way forward for each of the functions required to make this work for them.

Project road

We were chosen from a short list of web design companies after submitting our proposal and an initial meeting, as we were confident we could deliver within the time frame and budget. The outlined requirements where a little vague as neither Paul or Stewart where very web/technically proficient, so we had to bring them up to scratch and explain clearly to them each option so they could make the decisions required. Moving along swiftly after each weeks meeting with a clear road forward enabled us to run the project very smoothly and without any miss understanding or issues along the way. The project was completed from inception to delivery in good time and bang on budget.

The concept

The concept of the site is to offer historic journalistic articles to the public via short teasers of the article which you can only read in full if you either pay for one article or signup for a monthly subscription so that you can read as many as you like. The memberships’ and payments are controlled by a great WordPress plugin called S2 members, which allows to setup subscriptions or one off payments to access private areas of the site exclusively for the paid up members.
